For the teachers’ advocacy nonprofit Educators 4 Excellence, designer Kati Curtis wanted to inject elements of fun into the workplace of what was a very serious, very focused group. Her point of departure was the organization’s bright green apple logo, from which she made the color green an element that threads through the entire space. Cheeky notes include an image of large-scale Granny Smith apples on the ceiling of the elevator lobby.

In the lounge, open pendant fixtures hang above large pillows that act as casual seating paired with an undulating couch. The poured concrete floor provides a sober backdrop to the colorful action.
