For a total reboot of a Southern California beach house, Patrick Tighe Architecture and David Dunn Architecture + Interiors were tasked with transforming a dated–and dark–place into something modern, sleek, and filled with light. Large, rectangular white porcelain floor tiles, white walls, and anodized aluminum window frames defined the space and maximize reflection. In the furnishings, the palette is crisp and clean, but there’s just enough pattern and texture to keep it from being boring.
In the den, a deep–and deeply-hued–sofa upholstered in velvet and a luscious, loopy rug provide strong counterpoints to all the bright surfaces and Carrara marble-topped cocktail table.
