For a total reboot of a Southern California beach house, Patrick Tighe Architecture and David Dunn Architecture + Interiors were tasked with transforming a dated–and dark–place into something modern, sleek, and filled with light. Large, rectangular white porcelain floor tiles, white walls, and anodized aluminum window frames defined the space and maximize reflection. In the furnishings, the palette is crisp and clean, but there’s just enough pattern and texture to keep it from being boring.

In the living area, the lacquered cocktail table and the sofa, upholstered in vintage cotton velvet, are flanked by a pair of mod club chairs in leather. The plush white rug is both daring and dramatic.
