Mediterranean meets Modernist in a Houston home by Rottet Studio. Indoor-outdoor spaces, natural materials, and sunlight filtering in–plus the relaxed feeling these ele-ments provide–was the concept by Rottet Studio. Limestone masses linked by glass and steel meet stained-oak millwork and coffered ceilings. Floors are oil-darkened walnut or more limestone; walls are Venetian plaster. Furniture is spare, simple, and largely custom–or customized.

The designers also selected many of the artworks, curated to compliment the client’s own collection. A pair of Richard Serra etchings rests on the living room’s limestone mantle; the fireplace surround is carved marble. A mottled wool rug supports a classic daybed, rich gray sofa, and glass/metal coffee table.
