On the 36th floor of the iconic W.R. Grace Building in New York, SmithMaran Architecture + Interiors blended uptown polish with the allure of a downtown hotel lounge for Insight Venture Partners. The result is an open, sunny setting, albeit with requisite private spaces. Built-in benches, mirrors, and linen wall coverings add a sense of hospitality, while carefully selected fabrics and leathers project seriousness. It’s the perfect balance to represent the firms elite–but never elitist–culture.

Steel frames the glass fronting the managing director’s office. Once inside, visitors are greeted by a warm and inviting space with a deep sofa that reminds one of a hotel banquette.
