John Bricker's West Village Apartment Living Room

Gensler creative director and principal John Bricker filled his West Village one-bedroom–an 850-square-foot layout, 1950’s imitation of a typical prewar apartment–with family heirlooms, travel souvenirs, artwork, and books that speak to him. Never cluttered, the result is nevertheless brimming with personality. Furniture runs the gam-ut from a sideboard made for a Victorian kitchen to the 1980’s glam of John Hutton’s Klismos chairs.

A sofa in green leather and mohair velvet presides in the living area. The nubby rug is by no means shy, but still allows the furniture to take center stage. Harvey Probber de-signed the bench in front of the cabinet in cerused oak.
