Goil Amornvivat and Thomas Morbitzer of AM/MOR Architecture took on this gut renovation of a duplex in Stuyvesant Square. Using models, AM/MOR developed the architectural plan and the interiors scheme simultaneously, using woodwork to tie everything below the pitched roof together and fine-tuning the orientation of the seating. The palette matches the bones–mostly black, white, and gray–with a few appearances of accent color for variety.
In the bedroom, a spare pendant fixture hangs above an upholstered headboard. The energetic rug is an abstraction of an elaborate tile floor.
