Fabric & Steel echoes the conversation between place and texture. Our textiles reflect the relationship between the ephemeral interior, fleeting experiences and the permanent exterior of buildings. Beautiful, rough, architectural materials paired with refined, intimate design inspire the line.

We create textiles that are thoughtfully designed and meticulously executed. They are not products to be consumed and tossed, but to be cherished and kept.

Our fabrics are timeless. They are durable and meant to experience a life of many years. The designs are emphatically of our time—a reflection of who we are now. They capture our moment and refuse imitation, and their integrity endures.

Screen Printing by Hand.

Screen printing done by hand offers the best color, dye saturation and print quality.

No other method can create the fine color distinction and variation that mixing and applying by hand can.

The dyes used are completely absorbed into the fabric. This allows for the hand of the fabric to be just that—the fabric, not the dyes. This saturation also adds to the durability and longevity of the print.

Hand-printers are true artisans who have a profound understanding of the myriad details involved in creating heritage fabrics. Attention to every aspect of the design process is necessary.

Skilled artisans screen-print all of our designs, by hand, in Rhode Island. Having a relationship with a regional community of craftspeople who produce superior work and obsess over every detail is important to us.
